I mentioned it in a previous reply, but this ‘gay’ side of tumblr is not the average B/N/H/A fan. of course, some ships would not be as popular on this side of tumblr if they were het, again because of LGBT people wanting rep, and fujoshis being fujoshis. But so, so, so many other fandom spaces online (frankly the ones that are majorly inhabited by straight cis people) are heteroship-or-bust. The average fan from these areas of the fandom, and the casual viewer who does not participate in fandom in any meaningful way, is probably going to ship heterosexual ships. Surveys have been done asking people for their favorite ships, and every survey I have seen has i/z/u/o/c/h/a/ and t/o/d/o/m/o/m/o/ win by an amount that looks largely disproportionate to the gay-side-of-fandom tumblr blogger.
LGBT+ fandom has found a place for themselves on tumblr, and on AO3, and in some other websites. But, if surveys are anything to go by, it still exists in a bit of a bubble compared to everyone else. We just gotta be careful about what we generalize to the entire fandom, vs what can be said about the gay side of tumblr, if that makes sense?
Here’s the most recent Boku No Hero Academia Subreddit Survey. It has 1500 responses and was done a little over a month ago.
I’m having trouble reading the document from mobile, but from what I can tell, the top three ships in the survey are Midoriya/Uraraka (35.2%), Bakugou/Kirishima (22.8%), and Todoroki/Momo.
This isn’t a perfect representation of the western BNHA fandom. It’s only a representation of the BNHA Reddit fandom. The Reddit fandom is a different fandom from the Tumblr fandom. Reddit fandoms for shounen series are mostly male and usually ship what they consider to be “the most canon” or “the most realistic”. This is why Midoriya/Uraraka is overwhelmingly shipped there. In fact, Reddit typically ships heterosexual pairings and dismisses same sex ships as something that’s never going to happen.
While the Reddit fandom is in its own bubble like the Tumblr Fandom, I think it’s a more accuarate representation of the western BNHA fandom based on demographics and the variety of the people who use Reddit. The BNHA fandom is mostly young males, and the BNHA subreddit is mostly young males. A survey taken in Reddit is going to be a better representation than a survey taken in Tumblr. Because of this, it’s safe to say Midoriya/Uraraka, Bakugou/Kirishima, and Todoroki/Momo are some of the most popular BNHA ships.
Although, the popularity of Midoriya/Uraraka is most likely overestimated if you determine a pairing’s popularity based only on Reddit surveys and posts. Reddit LOVES Midoriya/Uraraka, but that pairing isn’t as popular in other websites. It’s still popular though.
Same sex pairings from shounen rarely get a lot of support on Reddit. Even those that do still get quite a bit of pushback. For instance, Gon/Killua (from HunterxHunter) gets a lot of support all over the Internet, but there’ll always be fans who say “they work better as friends” or “it’ll never be canon.”
I’m going to go on a tangent now.
It’s funny. The western fandom likes to dismiss ships they think can never be canon while Japanese fans will ship whatever the hell they want and not even care if they’ll be canon or not. Sure, Japanese fans would like their ships to be canon, but they don’t seem to be fixated on what’s canon and what’s not like the west does. It’s fiction, and because it’s fiction, they can interpret and believe whatever they want and will ship whatever they want without worrying about whether it’s canon. Looking down on a ship simply because it’s not canon is not a common thing that happens in Japan, especially compared to the west.
Sorry for the tangent.
Anyway, those are my thoughts on this conversation. I could talk about my thoughts on why Bakugou/Kirishima is so popular on Reddit, while other same sex ships aren’t nearly as popular, but discussing this would be kind of complicated, and I want to hear others thoughts on this. Reddit LOVES Bakugou and Kirishima’s friendship. It’s a lot of fans’ favorite relationship. That’s all I’ll say on that matter.
Maizawa Prompt 3 Music
Hizashi smiled fondly as he ran an open palm across the top of the piano now sitting in the living room. It was a recent gift from Shouta and he wasn’t even sure why his boyfriend had gone out of his way to buy him such an expensive gift. Regardless, he was grateful for it and he could feel the rush of giddy rush throughout his body as he thought about playing it. He sat down on the bench and slowly lifted the covering to reveal the piano keys.
The blond took a breath, enjoying every moment of unveiling such a beautiful instrument. Hizashi’s hands tremble for only a moment as he brings them down to brush the keys with his finger tips. The melody he plays is slow and hypnotic. As the blond closes his eyes he absorbs the music he’s creating, letting it flow all around him and getting lost in the sensation of emotions, being gently swayed by the notes of the song. After a moment of playing Hizashi begins to sing. Despite what some may think, it comes out soft and hushed. A steady lull with a rich voice capturing the gentle cadence of the song he’s chosen. He briefly opens his emerald eyes when he feels something, or rather someone, leaning against his side. Never missing a beat or a note Hizashi smiles down at Shouta who’s made himself comfortable at his side on the bench.
Shouta’s eyes are already closed as he listens to Hizashi’s wonderful performance. A smile curls onto his face as his boyfriend continues to sing and play. He’s always loved the way Hizashi gets into whatever it is he’s singing. The sway of Hizashi’s voice slowly putting Shouta at ease, as he drifts off to a the decadent serenade he’s come to love so much. His last waking thought was how glad he was to have bought this piano.
Another one done!!

Katsuki is definitely feeling something! As of the latest episode, I’d say he was feeling angry that Todoroki saw Izuku as ‘bigger competition’ than himself.
He’s probably questioning himself as to why, which is probably causing him to feel upset with Izuku. If theres one thing hes feeling toward Izuku in that episode its anger.
As for an Easter egg to Katsuki feeling, It could be. His emotions are slowly building and I don’t even think he quite understands them at times.
I do know/believe he starts having differeng emotions toward Izuku as the story progresses. u v u
Writing a novel when you imagine all you stories in film format is hard because there’s really no written equivalent of “lens flare” or “slow motion montage backed by Gregorian choir”
You can get the same effect of a lens flare with close-detail descriptions, combined with breaks to new paragraphs.
Your slow-motion montage backed by a Gregorian choir can be done with a few technques that all involve repetition.
First is epizeuxis, the repeating of a word for emphasis.
Example:
Falling. Falling. Falling. There was nothing to keep Marie from plunging into the rolling river below. She could only hope for a miracle now, that she would come out alive somehow despite a twenty-foot drop into five-foot-deep water.
Then there’s anaphora, where you write a number of phrases with the same words at the beginning.
There were still mages out there living in terror of shining steel armor emblazoned with the Sword of Mercy.
There were still mages out there being forced by desperation into the clutches of demons.
There were mages out there being threatened with Tranquility as punishment for their disobedience, and the threats were being made good upon.
Mages who had attempted to flee, but knew nothing of the outside world and were forced to return to their prison out of need for sustenance and shelter.
Mages who only desired to find the families they were torn from.
Mages who only wanted to see the sun.
This kind of repetition effectively slows the pace of your writing and puts the focus on that small scene. That’s where you get your slow pan. The same repetition also has a subtle musicality to it depending on the words you use. That’s where you get the same vibe as you might get from a Gregorian choir.
Damn I made relatable reblog- bait post and writer Tumblr went hard with it. This is legitimately very good advice.
For more neat tricks (aka figures of rhetoric) like epizeuxis and anaphora, read THE ELEMENTS OF ELOQUENCE by Mark Forsyth. It’s both educational and delightful, not to mention overflowing with wry wit. Great book.
Holy shit.
Forsyth’s other books, “The Etymologicon: A Circular Stroll Through the Hidden Connections of the English Language”, and also my firm favorite “The Horologicon: A Day’s Jaunt Through the Lost Words of the English Language” are also well worth the read if you have the opportunity.
Ok so as proven by Tracer and Soldier76, being gay in Overwatch makes you Fast. Ergo it may be possible to determine LGBT by speed. For example Zenyatta has Zoomyatta which means he channels gay energy for his ult. Also, Sombra becomes faster when she is invisible, a clear signal she is bisexual. In this essay I will
